I need to stream live audio from a night club over the internet. The client that will be receiving the audio stream will be IPhones, IPads and Androids via a custom developed application. The audio will most likely be streamed from one or several input devices and transferred via FireWire interface to a server (on-premise or hosted is not known yet). The product we may be using is the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 Firewire Interface. Although, we are not sure yet if this is the ideal hardware to get audio input streamed live over the internet. We are open to suggestions as to the proper hardware for this. The next question is how to get the audio such that it can be streamed in real time over the web.

What is a good solution for this problem? I'm interested in both the hardware solution to get the input audio to a streaming server and also what options for streaming servers are available. I would like to know if there are companies that offer hosted solutions versus on-premise servers.

I'm also concerned that whatever solution we pick will be compatible with both iPhones and Androids. Do all devices support audio streams via HTTPS in real time?

For anyone that has already done this, please provide the rough costs of doing this as well.

I have a Mac Mini which had a working Airport WiFi internal adapter. A couple weeks ago it decided to work intermittently, Took it to the Genius Bar at the closest Apple Store and they recommended replacing the Airport. My Mini's not new but I really wanted to find a simpler, more cost effective route.
My system specs are:
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MM21.009A.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.19f2
Snow Leopard v 10.68

I purchased an AddLogix 802.11bgn Wireless Adapter N150 via Amazon and went through video supplied here: 802.11bgn Wireless Adapter N150
didn't appear to be too difficult to install

I was incorrect. Here's how I'm connected to the Net:
Cox.net Motorola SB5101 cable modem
Apple Air Port Extreme A1034
trying to wirelessly connect back to Airport Extreme is fine but unable to go to the Net.
I realize the IP address of the Airport is 10.0.1.1 which should be entered in the DNS Server section however, I'm not sure what IP address address I should use to connect to the Internet.
But I don't know what I'm doing wrong as I can connect to the Airport Extreme but not to the Internet. Something tells me I need a IP address that's provided by Cox which from what I can tell is a 68.x.x.x but not sure exactly what I need to enter.
I am able to get to the Net using WiFi via an old iBook and my iPhone but not the mini with the adapter .Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi All,
could someone please help me with an (I think) unique problem?
It's got something to do with the Print Spooler Service.
Every time I turn the computer off, actually 2 of them, as it's interestingly happening on a Win7 Home Premium Dell laptop and a Win Vista Home Basic eMachines desktop, the computers forget all about the printers that have already been installed on them, when the next day I turn them on again.

In Control Panel under Devices and Printers, there's nothing listed, it's completely blank. Also, when I go to Word or such, no printers are listed there either, and the application freezes up.

I checked Services.msc, and under Print Spool, the setting is set to Automatic, and when I first check that, before doing anything else on the computer, the indicator says service Started.
So I have to hit Stop service, which usually also fails and gives me an error message. When I then try Restart, that involves first Stopping the service, which fails again, but then I click on Start service, and then it finally starts working, the Devices and Printers field, is once again, populated, and everything's working fine, until next day when it starts all over again.

Anyone has a clue as to what's going on, and how to fix it, more importantly, how to keep it from happening again?

The printer (HP LaserJet P2015dn, not an all-in-one, just a plain printer) is connected to a hub via an ethernet cable, and that hub is connected to a Belkin N1 Vision router. No computer is connected to the printer directly, only through the wireless network (the IP address for the printer is permanent/static).
The reason I think there's nothing wrong with the printer or the network, is that a 3rd computer (also a laptop) has no problem seeing and printing to the printer, as well as if anyone comes to visit and needs to print, they can also see the printer with no trouble, and also print to it.

So there you have it. Haven't a clue as to what's going on. Help, please?

I've got 3 Macs at home. 2 mac book pros running Lion, and 1 iMac with snow leopard. I was looking at making a bootable usb disk and I was wondering if I'd need 3 separate flash drives, one for each Mac, or will one flash drive work for all 3?

Thanks,

We have users who upload images -often at max resolution resulting in huge files. I wanted to see if I could find a tool to run on a schedule every night, loop through all the ftp folders and some sort of basic compression - reduce dpi to 72 maybe, strip exif info and have a max width or height, which an image larger than will be reduced to to get a smaller file size.

I found this site http://www.css-ig.net/index.html and the ScriptJPG does an awesome job. I compiled it using http://www.f2ko.de/programs.php?lang=en&pid=b2e and it runs great locally, but when I set it up for the limited user on remote it doesn't work its magic - I think because it uses a temp folder which they might not have sufficient permissions for? I'm not sure, no error and says it reduced the file but the actual size remains uncanged.

I also found http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/releases/view/82827 which works also but I need a command line tool or one that I can set parameters to.

Is anyone using something like this to automatically manage image uploads? The guys send photos of invoices and properties and when several people start opening those it really seems to impact the system for our remote users.

I just found out that Apple's urgency to get us all onto iCloud will be a disaster for those of us who have old systems. Maybe Apple thinks it's no big deal, that everyone with an old maxed-out Power PC with 10.5.8 should be ready to upgrade, but I'm a business with six of these and in this economy I'm not ready for this. It seems like this is a real opportunity for a niche business to provide a complete-package alternative for people like me. I may be able to synch contacts and a few other functions, but I will lose all my backing up I think, plus my back-to-my-mac capability, which I use daily. I will do a patchwork solution if I have to, but does anyone know of a service that will attempt to fill this niche?
